Chiropractor Treatments for Plantar Fasciitis
Have you been told you have plantar fasciitis? If so, it’s likely that your heel hurts and that it’s tough to take the first few steps each morning. There’s good news, though. Chiropractic can provide relief, and in the greater Orlando area, Joint Maneuvers Chiropractic Centre offers treatment for plantar fasciitis and many other conditions in our St Cloud and Lake Nona offices.
What is Plantar Fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis is a condition of the plantar fascia, the ligament that connects your toes to your heel. When the plantar fascia becomes swollen, inflamed or weak, the bottom of your foot and heel give you pain when you walk or stand.
It usually comes as stabbing foot pain. It may get better with mild exercise but tends to worsen if you’ve been on your feet for a while. It’s common in middle-aged folks, but no one of any age is exempt from it.
Sometimes it gets better with icing, rest, light exercise, or different shoes, but too often, it doesn’t.
How Can Chiropractic Help?
Rehabbing from the foot pain of plantar fasciitis can be slow and frustrating. There are several ways our chiropractic treatments can help.
The correct spinal adjustments, sometimes combined with manipulation of the foot and ankle, take the pressure off the plantar fascia and allow it to heal.
Also, chiropractic helps with pain management. When the spine is aligned, the central nervous system functions more efficiently. Pain relief through chiropractic tends to be longer-lasting and less invasive than drugs and surgery.
Often, people with plantar fasciitis alter the way they stand and walk to compensate for the problem area, which can cause new pains in other parts of the body. An aligned spine makes bad walking posture less likely.
Massage and therapeutic exercise can help the plantar fascia to function properly and decrease the likelihood of reinjury.
